  1. John Mayer may come off as a heartbreaker these days, but his good pal from childhood, tennis star James Blake, says that hasn't always been the case. The buddies attended the same high school in Fairfield, Connecticut, and apparently they didn't score A's with the ladies.
  2. Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan have been added as presenters to the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, set for September 7th in Los Angeles. Also joining the bill are the cast of High School Musical 3, Scarlett Johansson, and gold medalist Michael Phelps.
  3. George Clooney is in talks to star in the new feature from Juno director Jason Reitman. In Up in the Air, Clooney would play a shallow corporate downsizer who goes around firing people while obsessed with racking up frequent-flyer miles. His dream is to collect one million miles and then go to work for the mysterious MythTech.

  3. Matthew McConaughey's father died while having sex, his mother reveals in her new book, I Amaze Myself!. "On Monday mornings he and I often said goodbye by making love," 77-year-old Kay McConaughey told Us magazine. "But one day, all of a sudden, it just happened. I knew something was wrong, because I didn't hear anything from him. Just nothing. But it was just the best way to go!" Kay says that she insisted his body not be covered on its way to the ambulance. "I was just so proud to show off my big old Jim McConaughey -- and his gift," she added.

  2. Twelve movie extras from Tom Cruise's World War II drama, Valkryie, are suing the actor's production company for $11 million after they were injured on set last year. The extras suffered broken bones, cuts and bruises after the side panel of a period German army truck they were riding in burst open as it drove around a curb.

  3. Kirsten Dunst is reportedly getting cozy with Drew Barrymore's ex-boyfriend, Justin Long. Spies caught the couple "making out while waiting in line for margaritas,". Dunst has dated the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Hartnett and Orlando Bloom.

  4. Michelle Rodriguez, written out of the Lost plot after being arrested in Hawaii on DUI charges, is returning to the show. Rodriguez's character, Ana Lucia, will appear in the second episode of the upcoming season of the ABC hit, probably in a flashback sequence.

  4. David and Victoria Beckham were unharmed after the soccer star reportedly crashed their BMW into a wall while driving to a French airport last Friday. Beckham was making his way to China for an appearance at the Olympic closing ceremonies when the incident occurred.

We talked about Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies' unfortunate incident this morning. Sorry to hear Ed's misfortune with his Cessna 206 Stationair Amphibian aircraft. He put it into the woods on Baptiste yesterday. Luckily no one was hurt including his 3 passengers. According to official police report, the aircraft lost airspeed and entered the west side of Baptiste Lake.

  1. Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies is alright. He was at the controls of his Cessna 206 Stationair amphibian aircraft yesterday around noon on Baptiste Lake. The aircraft lost power on takeoff and entered a wooded area on the west side of the lake. 3 Passengers were aboard with Ed when the incident happened.

  2. Madonna kicked off her 51-date world tour on Saturday in the U.K, performing two hours for about 40,000 people at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in Wales.

  3. Avril Lavigne has been given the official the go-ahead to play Malaysia on August 29th. The move follows a round of cancellations due to the country's strict policies. Officials blasted the show, calling Lavigne's gig "too sexy."

  4. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams have rekindled their romance. The couple, who began dating after filming the 2004 romance The Notebook, split in 2007. On Thursday, they were photographed hugging and kissing at a Toronto restaurant.

  1. Coldplay's record label, EMI Music, has shot down reports in the British tabloids that the band plans to quickly issue two more albums so that it can complete its contract and exit the company. The Sun and the Telegraph reported on Thursday that the quartet intended to issue another set of new material in 2009, to be followed by a greatest hits collection, in order to finish its six-album deal.
  2. Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale welcomed their second child Thursday afternoon. Zuma Nesta Rock weighed in at 8 pounds 5 ounces.
  3. Britney Spears is gearing up for her next album, and rumor has it, she may seek the expertise of her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. The two were supposedly going to pair up on her last release in 2007, but Spears dropped the ball after missing recording sessions with Timbaland.
  4. The release date for the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, has been pushed back a week. Bond producers decided to take advantage of Warner Bros.' decision to move Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from a November 21st release date to next summer. Quantum of Solace will now open on November 14th, moving it a week closer to the American Thanksgiving weekend.

  2. The Verve plans to stay together beyond the release of its upcoming album, Forth, which marks the British group's first new effort in 11 years. Forth is due out next Tuesday.

  3. Texas native Jessica Simpson has signed a deal to promote an in-state beer. The singer/actress is the new pitchwoman for Stampede Light Plus, made by Dallas' Stampede Brewing Company. She will receive a 15 percent stake in the brewery as part of the deal.

  4. Ellen DeGeneres plan to share some photos of her weekend wedding to Portia de Rossi, but fans will have to tune in for her syndicated talk show's season opener. Season 6 starts on September 8th.

CHOCOLATE GLASS AND RAIN TIGERS? THAT'S BANANAS...

We talked about Banana peels on mosquito bites to rid the itch. Does it work? Well it seems too although it's hard to tell but it worked for Drew.

We also brought up the internet phenomenon Chocolate Rain. It's been around for a while now but has had well over 30 million views in total depending where you go to find it. Here's a link to an earlier post about it.


Former drummer from Glass Tiger, Michael Hanson, was on the phone with us today. Talking to us about his new band The Ravens which will be appearing at the Millenium Park Band Shell tonight during the last in the series of Concerts in the Park. The show kicks off at 7pm with the Ravens on at 8ish. Michael is writing a book you should look out for, Glass Tiger: Insane tales from Behind the Drum Kit.

  1. Malaysia officials have changed their minds and decided that Avril Lavigne's show is "too sexy" to be held in the Muslim-majority country later this month. According to the Associated Press, the Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry says her concert, which was set for August 29th, will interfere with the country's Independence Day festivities.

  2. Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Rihanna, Fergie, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood and Sheryl Crow are among the female artists lending their vocals to a new charity single, called "Just Stand Up," which will benefit cancer research. A slew of other singers will also be heard on the tune, including Mary J. Blige, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis and LeAnn Rimes.

  3. Former TV Superman Dean Cain has been cast in Maneater, a horror thriller about a former FBI profiler who teams with a small-town sheriff to solve murders seemingly based on Native American legends.

  2. Leona Lewis will be closing out the 2008 Olympics on August 24th alongside fellow soccer superstar David Beckham and music legend Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, according to U.K.'s Daily Mail. The ceremony is a symbolic handover from Beijing to the city of London, which is scheduled to host the summer games in 2012.

  3. It's now official: Laurence Fishburne will be replacing William Petersen as the star of CBS' long-running procedural drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

  4. Hilary Duff's reps are remaining mum regarding rumors the singer/actress is engaged to pro hockey player Mike Comrie. Duff was spotted wearing a ring on her finger Friday night (August 15th) when she and Comrie dinned at a Los Angeles restaurant.

  2. There seems to be no hard feelings between Alanis Morissette and her ex, comedian Dave Coulier, best known for playing Uncle Joey on the sitcom Full House. Morissette wrote one of her biggest hits, 1995's "You Oughta Know," about him. Now years later Coulier recalls what happened after they broke up and the first time he heard Morissette's angry song on the radio. He told the Calgary Herald, "I said, 'Wow, this girl is angry.' And then I said, 'Oh man, I think it's Alanis.” Coulier said they ended up seeing each other and hanging out for an entire day and everything was good.
  3. Ellen Degeneres and her partner, Portia De Rossi, are reportedly planning to tie the knot this weekend in California. According to usmagazine.com, the couple will have a small ceremony with a few close friends and family.

  1. An actor who appeared in the hit comedy `The 40-Year-Old Virgin' has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder in the stabbing of his girlfriend. Shelley Malil appeared Wednesday in San Diego County Superior Court. The 43-year-old could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted of the charge.

  2. U2's upcoming album may be titled No Line on the Horizon, according to a report in U.K. newspaper The Sunday Mirror. The paper reported that U2's record company, Universal Music, has registered the web site NoLineontheHorizon.com. The report also indicated that the new record will be released worldwide on Friday, November 14th.

  3. Kid Rock is expected to play this year's MTV Video Music Awards, but he won't be anywhere near Britney Spears. When Ryan Seacrest jokingly asked Kid Rock this week if he was going to do a special performance with Spears, Kid Rock said "I can give you a definite no on that.

  4. Less than a week after their impending wedding and children were reported by the tabloids, Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have split, according to sources close to the couple. "There's been a bit of tension for some time."

  1. Daughtry has announced some more details about the deluxe CD/DVD edition of the band's self-titled 2006 debut album, which will arrive on September 9th. In addition to a cover of Foreigner's "Feels Like The First Time" and several acoustic and live tracks on the CD, the DVD will contain videos for "It's Not Over," "Home," "Over You," "Feels Like Tonight" and "What About Now," plus live clips for "Breakdown" and "There and Back Again."
  2. British soul singer Joss Stone has reportedly been tapped to write a campaign song for Barack Obama. U.K. tabloid The Sun claims that Stone was personally approached by Obama to record a track that will become his theme song.
  3. As he wraps up his directing on the upcoming Star Trek re-boot, J.J. Abrams is now thinking about a big earthquake. Per the Hollywood Reporter, Abrams and David Seltzer, screenwriter of the original Omen film, are working on a disaster movie about a devastating quake. Details are sketchy, but Universal says it will not be a remake of the studio's 1974 production Earthquake. For now, Abrams only plans to produce the quake flick. The new Star Trek movie is due in theaters next May.

Coldplay has just added four more U.S. dates to its next North American tour. Although no new venues have been added to Canada, the tour begins on October 20th in Ottawa.



  1. Buckcherry has posted two new songs, called "Don't Go Away" and "Rescue Me," at the band's MySpace page. Both are taken from the group's upcoming fourth album, Black Butterfly, which is due out on September 16th.

  2. Cast members on the ABC hit drama Lost are reportedly asking ABC studios to open salary negotiations after it was leaked that two of the show's biggest stars, Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly, are currently in talks for raises.

  3. Madonna is postponing her huge 50th birthday bash because of a sprained ankle. The festivities for her big 50th were supposed to take place this coming Saturday at Madonna’s English country estate.

  1. David Archuleta is hard at work on his debut album with Rock Mafia Productions, the same people behind Miley Cyrus' hits "7 Things" and "See You Again." Archuleta is currently on tour with American Idols Live!, which stops in Hartford, Connecticut tomorrow.


  2. Entourage executive producer Mark Wahlberg will make his second cameo appearance on the HBO hit series, which begins Season Five next month. Wahlberg's upcoming film projects include Max Payne, a crime thriller based on the video game; Peter Jackson's adaptation of the best-seller The Lovely Bones; and The Fighter, in which Wahlberg portrays boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward.


  3. Shia LaBeouf could be headed to rehab. Although police ruled that he wasn't at fault for his recent car accident, the 22-year-old actor was charged with misdemeanor DUI on the scene, marking his second arrest since November. LaBeouf broke his hand in the accident, requiring surgery and forcing a delay and script change for Transformers 2.

  1. Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa will play themselves on the September 25 season opener of ABC's Ugly Betty. The episode features Mode editors Wilhelmina and Alexis, played by Vanessa Williams and Rebecca Romijn, respectively, appearing on the syndicated Live with Regis and Kelly show. Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos, is slated to appear on Ugly Betty's third episode this season.
  2. Trivial Pursuit on TV hosted by Brady Bunch actor Christopher Knight? No kidding. Knight has nabbed the host job for the nationally syndicated version of the board game Trivial Pursuit. The show debuts September 22.
  3. Jackie Chan will star in a new action comedy called The Spy Next Door. Chan will play a man who is called to baby-sit his neighbor's children and ends up fighting off secret agents after one of the kids inadvertently downloads a secret code.
  4. Laurence Fishbourne is in talks to replace William Peterson as the star of CSI. Fishbourne would be playing a new character described as a doctor/scientist outsider to the CSI unit who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer but hasn’t previously acted on any homicidal impulses.

  2. Singer and songwriter Ne-Yo remains in demand. His latest outside project is writing material for the reunion album of boy band pioneers New Kids On The Block. He penned the group's new single, which is titled "Single."
  3. Brad Pitt is in talks to star in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming World War II saga Inglorious Bastards. Per Tarantino is also courting Leonardo DiCaprio for the story about a group of allies who undertake a dangerous mission behind enemy lines.
