  1. AMC's Mad Men made television history last night when it became the first basic cable show to win an outstanding drama series Emmy award, at the 60th Annual Emmys in Los Angeles. The show about the employees of a 1960s advertising agency also won awards for outstanding writing and directing. It finished the night with a total of 6 awards out of its 16 nominations.
    The broadcast networks did better in the comedy categories. Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin won the lead acting awards for NBC's 30 Rock, which was named outstanding comedy series for the second year in a row. The show about the cast and crew of a sketch comedy program received a total of 17 nominations and ended up with 7 wins.
  2. Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM were critically injured Friday (September 19th) in a deadly plane crash that killed four people, but their doctor said he expects the two to make a full recovery. Barker was burned on his torso and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, suffered burns on his hands and part of his head. Both men's wounds were classified as second- and third-degree burns.
  3. Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has written a song called "All The Way" for the Chicago Cubs baseball team, according to Billboard.com. The track, which Vedder debuted live at a solo gig in the Windy City last month, is already getting airplay at Chicago radio stations and bars.
