- Taylor Swift's 19th birthday on Saturday was a low-key affair, according to People.com. Her family and friends, including the members of her band, gathered at the family home in Hendersonville, just north of Nashville. Swift was in charge of her own celebration, planning a buffet dinner with sushi, mini beef Wellingtons and bacon-wrapped scallops. Dessert consisted of a couple of ice cream cakes.
- Two of the biggest-selling albums of the year got there without either one being available at iTunes or almost any other digital outlet, according to AntiMusic.com. Kid Rock's late 2007 release, Rock 'n' Roll Jesus, was the third best-selling album of 2008 as of the beginning of December, while AC/DC's Black Ice came in right behind Rock at Number Four. Rock finally allowed the Rhapsody online service to begin exclusively selling the record this fall, and it has moved 3,000 digital copies as a result. Meanwhile, AC/DC has sold 1.6 million copies of Black Ice exclusively through Wal-Mart since October, without any sales in digital download form.
